Legal Safety Rules —Issue 4 --- The Coffee Decision
This is something most people never think about…
How many of you bought a coffee recently?
Years ago, it was simple.
You asked for coffee, paid, and left.
Today, before you even finish saying “coffee,” you are asked:
- What size?
- Hot or iced?
- Single or double?
- Which milk?
- Which sweetener?
- Any flavor?
And suddenly…
a small decision becomes a process.
Now imagine when the decision is not about coffee — but about your job, your contract, your visa, your rights, or your future.
Here is what most people don’t realise:
Legally, that cup of coffee was not small at all.
In less than a minute, you entered a binding agreement:
Offer.
Acceptance.
Payment.
Obligation.
No lawyer.
No negotiation.
No hesitation.
Yet… it was still a contract.
And this is where the real risk begins.
Because in real life, people often spend more time choosing their coffee
than reviewing a legal document that could impact their future.
Small decisions can create very big consequences.
Smart Question:
If I take time to choose my coffee…
why would I sign a legal document without clarity?
Clarity is protection.
Some decisions are small…
and some define everything that comes after.
